Water speaking

A dark reddish-brown clay seating element, inscribed all around with silver lettering stands exactly at the spot where the dike breached in Wilnis on August 26, 2003. The text fragments reflect the event and allow water to speak through the stories of residents involved about the days before the dike breach, the moment itself and the days after. Their story of the confusion, the first actions in the house, the departure. About what Wilnis looked like the next day, helping each other, the recovery. And about the meaning of water. The colors of the ceramic element refer to the environment of water and peat.
